Through The Gate

Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Yesterday we experienced Yosemite from the side of the road as we looked out upon the massive formations of rock, each with its own distinguishing look, name, and history. Today we are going back for more of the same, but this time we also will venture out onto a trail for a hike which even our youngest can manage as we go look at Bridal Veil Falls. As I was reading in my devotional this morning I read, “Hold My hand and walk joyously with Me through this day.” I am looking forward to holding Beth’s six-year-old hand as we walk this trail and experience what lies in store. This trip has already had a refreshing impact as we've seen so much and have enjoyed the celebration of a big anniversary with family. I can’t wait to savor the pleasures which lie ahead, and I pray that God would brace us to endure any difficulties which may occur on the journey.

Shortly we will enter the park marked by its stone entry, and I can’t wait.

Today in “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young (8/4)

Hold My hand, and walk joyously with Me through this day. Together we will savor the pleasures and endure the difficulties it brings. Be on the lookout for everything I have prepared for you: stunning scenery, bracing winds of adventure, cozy nooks for resting when you are weary, and much more. I am your Guide, as well as your constant Companion. I know every step of the journey ahead of you, all the way to heaven.

You don’t have to choose between staying close to Me and staying on course. Since I am the Way, staying close to Me is staying on course. As you focus your thoughts on Me, I will guide you carefully along today’s journey. Don’t worry about what is around the next bend. Just concentrate on enjoying My Presence and staying in step with Me.

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Colossians 4:2
